Dr. Amanda Tadrous, DClinPsy, BSc, is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and a registered Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (UK).
Dr. Tadrous has worked collaboratively with clients across a variety of NHS physical health and mental health settings to address difficulties including severe and enduring mental health difficulties, offending behaviours, and physical health problems. She currently divides her time between private practice and the NHS where she works as a Senior Clinical Psychologist in a London based community forensic service.
Dr. Tadrous is also a Visiting Fellow at Huddersfield University and a Visiting Lecturer at various London universities where she teaches in areas including assessment and treatment of personality disorder and offending behaviours.
Dr. Tadrous has extensive training. She obtained a First Class (Hons) Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from The University of Liverpool and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from University College London (UCL). Dr. Tadrous has developed expertise in areas of health psychology through her work in a HIV and Sexual Health Clinic and her role as a Senior Clinical Psychologist in a specialist chronic fatigue syndrome service. Dr. Tadrous also has experience of working with clients with severe mental health difficulties, personality disorder(s) and offending backgrounds. Her NHS activities include consultation, supervision, teaching, complex psychological assessment and treatment.
Dr. Tadrous is a highly skilled practitioner who is passionate about her teaching activities and working collaboratively with clients towards reaching their goals. In addition to her professional activities, Dr. Tadrous is committed to animal rights and welfare and supports a number of charities including the RSPCA.
Dr. Tadrous works collaboratively with clients to help them work beyond their difficulties and towards their goals. She is an expert in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), an evidence based psychological treatment. CBT identifies unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviours that maintain a person’s difficulties and helps the client to implement alternative, more helpful ways of coping.
Dr. Tadrous is also an expert in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). DBT is an intensive form of CBT that was originally designed for chronically suicidal patients with a diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder. Since its development, research has shown that DBT is effective at treating a wide range of difficulties such as substance dependence, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder and eating disorders. Dr. Tadrous also implements strategies from other therapeutic models to best suit her clients.
Dr. Tadrous works collaboratively with her clients to address difficulties, including: depression • anxiety disorders • anger • low self-esteem • bipolar disorder • borderline personality disorder • health and medical issues • phobias.
